ADFI stands for "Average Daily Feed Intake". ADFI shows how much feed a given livestock will consume in a given day. Generally it is lbs/livestock/day. This amount changes as the livestock gets older as they will consume more per day as they grow.
Creating an ADFI:
ADFIs are created in the Feedgroups section of FeedView. Click Feedgroups and navigate to the ADFI tab.
In the toolbar, click the + ADFI button, this will generate the pop-up window where you'll create your ADFI.
The pop-up has three steps to create the ADFI:
Step 1: Name it
Name the ADFI, name it something specific that relates to the scenario for which it's used. This will help you identify it at a glance and ensure mistakes aren't made due to naming confusion.
Step 2: Select the Livestock
Pick which Livestock the ADFI applies to. When you create your Feedgroup and add this ADFI to it, it will automatically select the animal you've assigned when creating the ADFI.
Step 3: Assign how much each animal will eat per day (this is set in week intervals)
Click the dropdown or type in the amount (in pounds) each individual animal will consume for that week each day. You can have as many weeks as you like. If your Feedgroup's duration goes past the last week of your ADFI, the amount set for the last week on the list will be used.
Example: If you only have 12 weeks set up for your ADFI, and week 12 is 4.5 lbs/day, on week 13 and beyond it will use 4.5 lbs/day.
