Binventory install, upgrade, move to another computer

MOVE BINVENTORY TO A DIFFERENT COMPUTER

  1. Before disconnecting the old PC, on the current one running the software click File > EXPORT the system settings. This allows an import into the new PC moving all of your sensor settings and configurations, as if nothing ever happened.
  2. If you are running an old version of Binventory (before version 5.4.9) email the exported DAT file of system configuration to techsupport@binmaster.com so we can convert the file to allow for newer software.  Go to Help Button>About to see the version.
  3. Download the latest Binventory 5.4.9: Hightail - Receive.  Do a FULL install on the designated HOST PC.
  4. On the HOST PC, go File>System Import.  Open a Windows search and type in Ebob and select Ebob Security Administrator.  It will prompt for a password which is B1nM@ster.  Select verify to confirm you are connected to the database.

    TO ADD A CLIENT PC

  •  If you want to view your Binventory on more than one computer, you will need to consider the HOST (main server) and CLIENT (secondary viewer PC).  Use the same Binventory 5.4.9 for both CLIENT and HOST.  On the HOST, Select Advanced install. Then unselect SQL. Select Engine and Scheduler services. Then install.  On the CLIENT,  select Advanced install. Leave Engine, Scheduler, and SQL all unchecked. Only have Binventory Client checked. Then install.
  •  On the HOST PC, open a Windows search > type Ebob >select Ebob Security Administrator.  It will prompt for a password which is B1nM@ster.  Select verify to confirm you are connected to the database.  On CLIENT PC, do the same but the server-selected windows will change.  The IP address of the HOST PC should be entered replacing the LOCAL only (do not delete any chapters other than the word LOCAL.  After entering the HOST IP you will then select verify.  If you connected to the HOST, the CLIENT PC will say SUCCESSFULLY CONNECTED TO DATABASE.  Select save before exiting.  If you don't save it will resort back to the local in the server location.

IF YOU WANT THE SQL ON A SEPARATE COMPUTER

  • Download this SQL file and run the scrip on your designated SQL Database: Hightail - Receive
